The mid-level ophthalmic personnel are the crux of the eye care service delivery team. One needs to first understand the definition of MLOP and what are the different role they play. The MLOPs play their role both in the community sector as well as in the hospital sector in the ophthalmic arena. Various training curriculum as well as other resources are made available in order to develop a good MLOP.
To develop Ophthalmic paramedical manpower for the eye hospital along with the objective of rural development in service area; Sudarshan Netralaya has a 2 year Mid-Level Ophthalmic Personnel Course Training for the 12th pass girls from any faculty.
Selection Criteria
Education -12th(H.S.C) standard, Age17-18 years, Experience -Fresh candidates with no work experience , Background -Rural, low-income family
The recruitment is done after a written exam and interview
The Objective here is to train the Ophthalmic Paramedical Personnel to develop various competencies which will enable them to work in clinical areas such as OP, Ward, OT, Refraction, Counselling and support services like Aurolab, Reception, Housekeeping, and Catering.
The basic knowledge imparted during the training is:
Human Anatomy, physiology, Anatomy of the eye, Common eye diseases, Ocular pharmacology, microbiology, biochemistry, Ophthalmic instruments
