Treatment Options
Cataracts are addressed through a safe and effective surgery. Your doctor will remove the cloudy lens and replace it with an artificial one known as an Intraocular Lens (IOL). This new lens allows light to pass through, restoring clear vision. Unlike contact lenses, the IOL remains in your eye permanently. There are various types of IOLs available, and our doctors and counselors can help you choose the best one for you.
The commonly used surgical techniques are: -
Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) with Intra Ocular Lens Implantation:
This is a technique where the cataract is removed manually through a slightly larger incision. This technique is used if your cataract is excessively hard, making phacoemulsification difficult.
Phacoemulsification with Intra Ocular Lens Implantation:
In this method a tiny instrument is inserted through a very small incision, the ultrasound vibrations break the cataract into tiny pieces. These pieces are gently suctioned out. Usually, no stitches are required to close the incision. This minimally invasive surgery allows faster and safer healing, and you can return to your normal activities in no time.
Till date over 74894 cataract patients have been treated at our hospital.
In addition to the above procedures, we also perform YAG Capsulotomy.
YAG Capsulotomy is a safe and effective laser procedure used to treat posterior capsule opacification (PCO), a common after effect of cataract surgery. Over time, the capsule holding the intraocular lens may become cloudy, leading to blurred vision. YAG laser is used to create a small opening in the cloudy capsule, restoring clear vision without the need for further surgery. This quick, painless procedure typically offers immediate improvement in vision.
